About Camp Sozo

Mission Statement

To save, heal, deliver and make whole through Spirit-filled relationships and the great outdoors.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to see lives transformed by the power of God- where individuals encounter salvation, healing, and freedom while building authentic relationships and discovering His presence in the beauty of creation.

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Camp’s Core Values

Christ-Centered

We keep Christ at the center of everything we do — our teaching, relationships, activities, and service.

Faith & Spiritual Growth

We cultivate an environment where faith can grow through worship, prayer, scripture, and discipleship.

Love & Compassion

We lead with kindness, grace, and compassion, showing the love of Jesus in every situation.

Community & Belonging

We create a welcoming space where every person feels seen, loved, and valued as part of God’s family.

Integrity

We honor God through honesty, accountability, and doing what is right even when no one is watching.

From Vision to Reality

Camp Sozo was born from a simple dream: to see young lives transformed through a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ and the unforgettable experience of camp.

As our church family at Firm Foundation Ministries continued to grow, we recognized the need for more opportunities for the youth in our area to experience Christian camp ministry. With limited local options available, we felt God calling us to step forward and create something new.

Our founders and leadership team have each been deeply impacted by camp ministry and have witnessed firsthand the lasting difference it can make in a person’s life. Their passion, experience, and shared vision became the foundation for Camp Sozo.

Through God’s faithfulness, the support of Firm Foundation Ministries, and countless hours of prayer, planning, and dedication, what began as a dream has become a reality. We are excited to welcome campers into an environment where they can grow in faith, build lasting friendships, and experience the life-changing love of Jesus.

About Our Host Camp

Camp Lakewood is a faith based camp for everyone. “Our desire is to share God’s transforming love with every camper and guest. We welcome people of all backgrounds and faiths to join us for a rejuvenating time away.”

Their name comes from Matthew 28:18-20. The verse is the Great Commission, where Christ’s followers are sent into the world to share God’s transforming love. Camp Lakewood’s desire is to leave a legacy with each generation they encounter, that they would impact this world for the sake of Christ.
